In a decisive move aimed at safeguarding national security and protecting indigenous communities, the first batch of illegal immigrants from Myanmar were deported. CM Biren posted the formal deportation ceremony and documented it in photographs on social media platform X. This exercise marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to curb illegal immigration or “Ghuspaith” in the nation. As per Manipur CM’s official statements, the process was devoid of any discrimination. All those who entered Bharat without documentation through Myanmar were sent back.

Additionally, CM Singh revealed that during the handover ceremony, one Indian national was repatriated from Myanmar.

Thereby, underscoring the government’s commitment to protecting its citizens. During the recent state assembly session, reports revealed that 6,746 illegal Myanmarese immigrants were detected in Manipur from 3rd May 2023 till 27th February 2024. This staggering seems to underscore the tip of the iceberg of this gargantuan “Ghupaithiye” challenge of Bharat.

Why Is This Deportation Good For Manipur?

The deportation is a direct consequence of last year’s Manipur riots. The subsequent investigations in Manipur reveal a connection between illegal immigrants to illegal guns and Myanmar currency in the hands of rioters. Further inquiry detailed an unnatural growth of 996 new villages solely occupied by illegals in the state. These illegal settlements became a den of iniquity where illegitimate activities ran rampant!

Consequently, these ‘Ghuspaithiye’ posed a grave threat to the indigenous people and national security.

Moreover, the narcotic gangs used these settlements to have access to cheap labor. Thus, these ‘Ghuspaithiye’ were a constant threat to the residents of the region. Consequently, the illegal immigrants started to change the indigenous demography of the region. Furthermore, they became a drain on the natural economy of the state Thus, to avoid future complications, these illegal residents were documented and sent back to their native country.

The government will continue to intensify its efforts to identify and deport illegal immigrants. However, a rational citizen would wonder to what depth were these immigrants involved in the riots last year. Although the riots took on an ethnic color later, the root of the problem was the Eradication of Illegal Opium Farms in the state. Thus, it seems that enemies of Bharat who lost their crop of opiates may have had a large hand in the Manipur riots. Possibly, they used the Kuki-Meitei tensions as well as these easily bought illegals to stoke communal fires in the nation.

Therefore, the Manipur goverment’s act of recording biometric data of ‘Ghupaithiye’ is a wise act that bolsters border security measures. With the successful completion of the first phase of deportation, Manipur sets a precedent for stringent action against all ‘Ghuspaithiye’ that leech off of Bharat’s resources. It tells the world and the illegal immigrants that violations of Bharat’s national sovereignty will no longer be tolerated. As the state takes decisive steps to safeguard its borders and preserve its cultural heritage, let’s pray for a safe and harmonious Manipur. May the fires of communal riots no longer be the color of the land of Manipur!
