Flagging Irregularities..

Citing one of the CAG reports, Maken said that the AAP government in Delhi built only three hospitals in the last 10 years in Delhi. He alleged that it was under the Congress government that the construction of all three hospitals was started. Further, he pointed out, that they spent Rs 382 crore from the initial tendered amount on building it.

Ajay Maken then pointed out the delays and irregularities in the hospital construction. He mentioned that Indira Gandhi Hospital faced a 5-year delay, Burari Hospital saw a 6-year delay, and Maulana Azad Dental Hospital experienced a 3-year delay.

Continuing further he said, “In Indira Gandhi Hospital, Rs. 314 crores more were spent than the tender. Rs 41 crores additional were spent on Burari Hospital and Rs 26 crores were spent on Maulana Azad Dental Hospital than the tender… The CAG reports ways that a sum of Rs 382.52 crores more than the tender was spent on three hospitals. This is the reason that Arvind Kejriwal did not let the CAG report be presented in the Vidhan Sabha. I am making a direct allegation that this is the reason that the CAG report was stopped…”

Central Funds Unspent..

He also said that, according to the CAG report, the Delhi government acquired 15 plots between 2007 and 2015 with plans to build hospitals, but they never started any work on them. Furthermore, he said that during the COVID pandemic, the central government’s funds weren’t utilised. Out of the Rs 635.62 crores given by the central government, 56.74 percent i.e., Rs 360.64 crores, were unspent.

Shortage of Staff..

Ajay Maken further said, “In Rajiv Gandhi and Janakpuri Super Speciality hospitals, doctor shortage is 50-74%… The nursing staff is short by 73-96%. Paramedic staff is short by 17-62%… This is what the CAG report says… In the Janakpuri Super Speciality hospital, bed occupancy rate is 20-40% because of shortage of staff..”

Meanwhile, as per reports, Congress leader Devendra Yadav has demanded that the CAG report exposing AAP government in Delhi be investigated. He demanded that the LG should intervene and order an investigation into it. This comes ahead of the Delhi assembly elections scheduled for February 5.
