BJP Worker Found Dead in Bengaluru, Suicide Note Blames Congress Leaders and Police Harassment

On Thursday night, Vinay Somayya, a 35-year-old BJP worker from Madikeri, Karnataka, was found dead at his office in Nagawara, Bengaluru. The suicide was not without explanation—a detailed suicide note, reportedly over a thousand words, was posted on WhatsApp and Facebook shortly before his death. (Congress)

In it, Vinay laid out a distressing account of alleged harassment by Congress leaders and police, linking political pressure directly to his decision to end his life.

Harassment, FIRs, and a Campaign of Defamation by Congress

Vinay’s troubles began after he was made admin of a local WhatsApp group titled “Kodagu Problems and Suggestions.” A controversial message was shared in the group. While Vinay claimed he had no part in composing it, he said he was blamed for it nonetheless.

He was booked under a politically motivated FIR, arrested, and even after receiving bail, claimed that harassment by the police continued. The pressure, according to his note, came from Congress MLA A.S. Ponnanna, who allegedly used his position to keep the case alive and target Vinay’s family.

Vinay accused Congress leader Tenneera Maheena of circulating his photo and case details to defame him. He also named MLA Mantar Gowda, claiming he was verbally attacked after raising public health concerns about the Kushalnagar Government Hospital in a group chat.

Vinay described efforts to paint him as a repeat offender, mentioning plans to open a “rowdy sheet” against him despite a High Court stay on the FIR. He questioned why only he was charged, saying: “I only forwarded a voice message. Why was the source never investigated?”

A Note Pleading for His Family’s Future

In his final message, Vinay asked for help—not for himself, but for his wife and daughter. “Even one rupee from each person will help their future,” he wrote. He also thanked BJP leaders Pratap Simha, KG Bopaiah, and Appachu Ranjan for their support during his ordeal.

He ended the letter with an emotional plea: “Please don’t let my family be harassed anymore.”

BJP Reaction: “100% Political Revenge”

The suicide has prompted an outpouring of grief and anger from BJP leaders.

Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka called it “100% political revenge,” accusing the Congress-led administration in Kodagu of behaving like a “Congress office.” He demanded that the district SP be suspended before any credible probe can take place.

Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy called the incident “not an isolated case,” urging a CBI inquiry and rejecting a local CID or police-led probe.

State BJP president BY Vijayendra also spoke out, saying BJP workers had been repeatedly harassed since the Congress came to power, and demanded immediate legal action against those named in the note.

Karnataka Government’s Response: Inquiry Promised

In response, Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwara has promised a thorough investigation by the local DCP. He confirmed that authorities would verify the allegations made in the suicide note, and that action would follow if the claims prove to be true.

“We are not taking this lightly. Whatever is on social media will be reviewed,” he said.

Journalist Brutally Murdered for Exposing Congress Leader’s Corruption

As the preliminary investigation continues, Vinay Somayya’s death remains at the center of a growing political storm in Karnataka. The suicide has not only raised serious questions about alleged political misuse of police machinery. But has also triggered a deeper conversation about, accountability, and the consequences of unchecked power at the local level.
