Amid the geopolitical tensions in West Asia and Russia-Ukraine, PM Modi is set to embark on a three-nation tour. PM Modi is scheduled to visit Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana from 16th of this month. During this tour he will also be attending the G20 summit.
The G20 Summit..
The Ministry of External Affairs announced on November 12, that PM Modi will be visiting Rio De Janeiro on November 18 and 19 to attend the G20 summit. India, along with South Brazil and South Africa is part of the G20 Troika.
During the Summit, PM Modi will put forward India’s position on various issues of global importance. He will also build on the outcomes from the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration and Voice of the Global South Summit. India had hoisted these summits in the last two years. PM Modi is also expected to meet leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit. This would also be US President Biden’s last international engagement in the wake of U.S elections.
Visit To Nigeria And Guyana…
This will be Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Nigeria in 17 years. During this visit PM Modi will hold talks on strategic partnership and bilateral ties.
The MEA said, “At the invitation of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria H.E. Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Prime Minister will visit Nigeria from 16-17 November, 2024. This will be the first visit by a Prime Minister of India to Nigeria in 17 years. During the visit, Prime Minister will hold talks to review the strategic partnership between India and Nigeria and discuss further avenues to enhance the bilateral relationship.” He will also address the Indian community in Nigeria.
After the Brazil trip, PM Modi will be visiting Guyana. According to MEA, “At the invitation of the President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister will undertake a State Visit to Guyana from 19-21 November, 2024. This visit to Guyana will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister since 1968.” During this visit, PM Modi will address the parliament of Guyana and will hold discussions with President Ali. He will also be interacting with the Indian diaspora.
Then in Georgetown, Guyana, PM Modi will also take part in the Second CARICOM-India Summit. In order to deepen India’s longstanding ties, he will also meet with the leaders of CARICOM member nations.
Earlier in 2023, President Ali, had visited India as the Chief guest in the Pravasi Bhartiya divas wherein he was facilitated with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman.
