A Game-Changer for Crime Prevention
At the launch, Amit Shah emphasized the importance of modern technology in combating crime. He stated, “It is time Indian investigation agencies use modern technology and techniques to nab fugitives and ensure justice.” Bharatpol aims to streamline the process of seeking international assistance through Interpol, covering 195 member nations.
The portal will facilitate:
- Real-time access to Interpol data for all Indian agencies.
- Streamlined issuance of Red Notices and other color-coded notices.
- Easier tracking of international criminals within India and vice versa.
Amit Shah highlighted that Bharatpol would allow Indian police departments to analyze global crime patterns, helping create frameworks to prevent such crimes domestically.
Addressing the Issue of Interstate Crime s
Beyond its international scope, Bharatpol is expected to revolutionize the handling of interstate crimes, particularly cases where criminals exploit jurisdictional limitations by fleeing across state borders.
One prominent example is seen in cases of love jihad, where Hindu women, under the guise of marriage promises, are taken out of their home states to places like Hyderabad or Kashmir. State police, often confined to their jurisdictions, face immense challenges in locating victims once they cross state borders. Traditionally, such cases required forming special teams for interstate operations, slowing down investigations and increasing risks for victims.

With Bharatpol’s streamlined connectivity, state agencies can now collaborate more effectively, share information in real-time, and coordinate efforts without delays caused by procedural bottlenecks. This will enhance the ability to track, locate, and rescue victims more efficiently while nabbing perpetrators relying on jurisdictional loopholes.
Empowering State and Central Agencies
Previously, only the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had direct access to Interpol. Bharatpol now extends this capability to all state police forces and national agencies, ensuring broader and faster collaboration.
The portal’s real-time interface allows agencies to:
- Share case information globally and across states.
- Track fugitives more efficiently.
- Obtain actionable intelligence from Interpol and national crime databases.
Amit Shah urged the CBI to train state agencies on using Bharatpol effectively and implementing the three new criminal laws introduced by the Modi government.
Modernizing India’s Crime Framework
Amit Shah stressed the importance of staying ahead of global and domestic crime challenges. He noted that Bharatpol would address critical gaps in India’s investigative framework, making it easier to locate absconders and bring them to justice.
“We must institutionalize these systems and enhance knowledge of various Interpol notices and their procedures,” he said, underlining the need for capacity building.
At the event, Amit Shah presented Police Medals to 35 CBI officers, acknowledging their dedication and excellence in investigations. He praised the contributions of Indian police forces and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement.
Bharatpol’s Impact
The launch of Bharatpol signifies India’s commitment to adopting modern technology for global and interstate crime prevention. By connecting state and central agencies to Interpol, Bharatpol is poised to revolutionize how India handles international investigations and domestic challenges.
This initiative will not only address crimes involving global networks. But also empower state police forces to combat interstate crimes effectively, ensuring faster resolutions and greater justice for victims. Bharatpol is not just a portal; it’s a vision for a safer, more secure India.
