Urvashi Rautela And Her Divine Delusion

In a recent podcast with Siddharth Kannan, Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela claimed that a temple near Badrinath is dedicated to her. He clearly said – “Already mere naam ka mandir hai, Urvashi mandir”. She further suggested that a temple should be established in South India for her fans there.

This delulu actress calls herself an IITian – because she says got decent marks to get into IIT but did not graduate from the institute. Similarly, she wants to claim the temples of the deity after whom she is named. The lesser known temple in question is historically dedicated to the Apsara Urvashi part of the Hindu pantheon of celestial nymphs. The internet is angry and amused by her insane assertions!

The Real Urvashi Temple: A Tribute to an Apsara

The Urvashi Temple is located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand. It is mandir dedicated to Apsara Urvashi – a celestial being created from the thigh of Lord Narayana during his penance with Nara at Badrikashrama. According to the Bhagavata Purana, Apsara Urvashi was born during the penance of Nara-Narayana at Badrikashrama.

Thus, the temple stands as a testament to this divine event and is a place of worship for devotees seeking blessings from the apsara. The Uttarakhand Urvashi temple holds significant importance and is a site of reverence for devotees who honor the divine legend of Sanatan Dharma. Many devotess come to the temple as part of the 108 Shaktipeeth to honor Ma Sati. It is a lesser known temple held in great revence by the local populance of Bamni and Pandukeshwar.

Urvashi Rautela – Confusing Fame with Divinity

Actress Urvashi Rautela’s claim was met with both skepticism and ridicule. The interviewer, Siddharth Kannan, expressed surprise and sought clarification. He was unsure about her claims of having a temple in her name. However, Urvashi Rautela confidently affirmed her belief that the temple is dedicated to her. She even said that the devotees/fans ask for her blessings in the temple.

This conflation of her insignificant personal fame with deities is a simple display of narcissism clubbed with a deliberate  misunderstanding of the cultural heritage of Uttarakhand.

The public response to her delusions is largely critical. Many ask the “Item Girl” to respect religious sites and the figures they honor. Such statements, whether made in jest or earnest, diminish the sanctity of Hindu places of worship. It trivializes the deity to whom Sanatanis dedicate their puja. Hence, starlets and wanna-be public figures need to approach cultural and religious topics with sensitivity and awareness.

A Lesson in Humility and Awareness

Actress Rautela is either on a hunt for publicity by doing this stunt or is genuinely lost in her delusions. Either way, her narcissism has crossed the boundaries of Hindu patience for insanity. Who will stop her from claiming that she is Apsara Urvashi reborn in Kalyuga! Who will rebuke her from claiming that AR Rahman’s epic song “Urvashi-Urvashi” was a bhajan requesting her to take birth on earth?!

Reducing a temple to her own personal glorification dreams is a violation of Hindu tolerance.

Misrepresenting lesser known temples can lead to misinformation and hurt the sentiments of communities that hold these sites dear. Loud calls for a public apology from Rautela are making the rounds. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of humility in Bollywood starlets. Moreover, it is an unwanted test of Hindu tolerance in the face of ridiculous claims made regarding their sacred sites.

Delusional or Megalomaniac – Urvashi Rautela will soon find herself on the wrong side of an argument if she continues to walk her chosen path to fame!
