Thiruparankundram Hill is home to one of the six most sacred abodes of Lord Murugan. It has been a Hindu pilgrimage site for centuries. The hill also contains Jain caves with inscriptions dating back to the 2nd century BCE. Thus proving that the site has been part of India’s Dharmic traditions for millennia.

However, despite this undeniable Hindu heritage, certain Muslim groups have been making false ownership claims over the hill. They are even demanding the right to perform animal sacrifices on the land. This is not an isolated case. Across India, Hindu temples and sacred lands are being illegally taken over, piece by piece. It is as part of a deliberate effort to erase Hindu heritage and assert dominance over Hindu spaces.

Hindu Rights Over the Hill: Clear Legal and Historical Evidence

1. 1931 Privy Council Ruling: The highest colonial-era court already ruled that the entire Thiruparankundram Hill belongs to the temple. The claim that Muslims have rights over it is legally baseless.
2. Hindu Worship for Centuries: There is no historical evidence of the hill being associated with Islam before recent attempts to encroach upon it.
3. Temple Administration Rights: The hill has always been managed by Hindu religious institutions, and any attempt to alter this is an attack on the sanctity of Hindu religious traditions.

Despite these undeniable facts, Muslims are still trying to assert dominance over the hill. The government of Tamil Nadu remains silent.

A Pattern of Encroachment: Islamisation of Hindu Lands

The attempt to claim Thiruparankundram Hill is part of a larger pattern where Islamic groups are systematically encroaching upon Hindu temples and religious spaces. Hindus are already fighting for:

• Kashi Vishwanath Temple: The Gyanvapi Mosque stands on what was once a grand temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
• Mathura’s Krishna Janmabhoomi: The Shahi Idgah mosque is built on land that belonged to Lord Krishna’s birthplace.
• Karnataka’s Baba Budangiri Hills: Originally a Hindu Dattatreya Peetha, now contested due to Islamic encroachment.

Hindus must wake up and fight back before more sacred spaces are taken away under the guise of “secularism” and “harmony”. The other communities aggressively expand their presence.

3. Hold the Government Accountable: The DMK government’s silence on this issue exposes its anti-Hindu bias. Why is it afraid to defend Hindu temples?
4. Stop the Slow Islamization of Tamil Nadu: From temple control to land encroachments, Hindus in Tamil Nadu must resist the increasing attacks on their culture and faith.
